The Global Euro Starts at Home – Advancing the Global Euro by Completing Europe’s Monetary Union

The CFS, in partnership with the London School of Economics – European Institute and EuroForward, invites you to attend our upcoming conference.
As the international monetary system reorganizes around competing global currencies, the euro stands at a critical turning point. The European Central Bank has already taken strategic steps through liquidity agreements and capital market reforms. However, a crucial gap remains regarding the completion of the euro project within Europe itself.
This conference, chaired by Rainer Klump (CFS Director and Goethe University), bridges these two agendas, demonstrating how completing the monetary union across Europe’s remaining non-euro EU member states directly reinforces the euro’s external credibility and global standing.

Key Sessions & Highlights

  • Keynote Insights: Presentations on strengthening the euro’s international role by Axel A. Weber (CFS President, former President of the Bundesbank and CEO of the UBS), Marek Belka (EuroForward President, Poland’s former Deputy Prime Minister, Finance Minister and President of the National Bank of Poland), Ludovic Subran (Allianz) and Kalin Anev Janse (ESM). Furthermore Massimiliano Castelli (UBS) speaks about the Dollar Dominance in Global Finance.
  • Adoption, Enlargement & Irreversibility: High-level discussions featuring perspectives from Princeton University, LSE, the IMF, EBRD, and current/former central bank leaders on shifting cost/benefit assessments across Central and Eastern Europe.
