Europe in a new era of “higher for longer” interest rates
Faced with an unprecedented inflation spike in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine, the European Central Bank has raised policy rates to all-time high levels. Meanwhile countries like Germany may have to re-think their business model and strategy in a more challenging geopolitical and economic environment. What are the risks of higher interest rates for European countries? Are European institutions up to the challenge?
